Yesterday was an extremely sad day. I rode to the funeral with my nephew and niece. The baby was a precious little tyke and this is just heartbreaking.
I'm back at work today. Yes, when you own your own business you get to work on the weekend. Isn't that fun? It is such nice weather today and I'd really love to be potting some flowers or digging out nasty quack grass or anything outside. Maybe tomorrow....
As far as knitting goes, I'm at a standstill. I got all my new yarn and needles and patterns and have just lost my zing. Maybe the winter scarf from the Noro silk garden IS what I should start on. Just simple knit and purl. I might be able to handle that.

trying to get my mind around it
We got such sad news on Monday morning. Our great great nephew, who wasn't yet a year, suffocated from getting a grocery bag over his head while he was in a crib, under the care of his dad (joint custody). The details are all pretty sketchy so far but my heart is breaking for his mom, our great niece, who is only 23 and for the lost life and potential of this little fellow. Please remember them in your prayers.

Smokin' plastic
I've probably said it before but internet shopping and credit cards....you gotta love 'em! I've placed, I'm embarrassed to say, 4 orders (one for shoes that I can't find anywhere but the internet) in the last few days. And being so very impatient I'm constantly looking at my email for shipping confirmation. I really need to stop now and do some work. I've got inventory to enter and bills to pay. But really that doesn't compare to anxiously awaiting something in the mail or UPS. Yarn! Needles! Patterns! Oh my! I must say though, in my defense, that a lot of this is from the 25% off Carodan Farm sale.
I've been in a bit of a knitting slump. I had told myself that I wouldn't start another project until I get the pink afghan done. The new grandbaby is definitely a girl! :) Anyway, I'm not getting anywhere on it and I think as soon as I get the new yarn etc in the mail I'm going to start as many projects as I can. I think it will all go better if I have fun things to pick from.
So here are the things that I want to start.
Pink sweater and hat or 2 for the new little one.
Leaf Lace shawl for me, with another one for a DDIL if all goes well. Maybe both DDILs! :)
And I ordered Noro Silk Garden for a winter scarf. That might not be started right away.
I do have more things on the needles besides the pink afghan. There is a blue afghan that will undoubtably be put on hold AGAIN and there is a pair of socks that I just have lost my love for. Funny how that goes. I hope to find it back again. They will be fun little socks with a built in jacquard pattern. But they are hibernating for now. They just don't know it....or maybe they do.
Sunny weather today but cool. Only in the 60s. It's been really windy too.
Maybe I'll just check the email one more time and THEN start working.....

Sunny with Lace Knitting....
It is a gorgeous day today. Sunny, only a little wind so far at least, and already in the 60's. Amazing. The farmers are actually able to farm. People are out mowing their yards. Things are really getting green. AND the rain for today was cancelled. Major WooHoo! If I get time I still would like to photograph and document a field this summer. It could be a challenge to be able to get there while the machinery is actually on the field....
There is potentially a new addiction in my knitting world. Cookie has given me some very good suggestions for yarn and patterns to start lace knitting. I have been doing some serious looking on Ravelry and various yarn websites for just the right yarn. There is a lot of beautiful stuff out there. Cookie, you are one naughty girl!! :)

A great find
Today I found a new place online to get yarn and all the other goodies that go with knitting. And on sale for 25% off. Everything. Yup, they are moving and everything is on sale. Carodan Farm. If I had more people that read my blog you wouldn't find me telling this. It'd be a well kept secret! At least until I placed my order. ;)
They seem to have a lot of things to pick from and I've spent the better part of the day looking at their website. (Psst, don't tell DH aka boss, about that.)
Actually I started out on Ravelry looking for what online shops people like the most and Carodan Farms was mentioned. Only mentioned a couple 3 times but very enthusiastically. So I went to check it out. I'm putting in an order as soon as I decide what to get and how much to spend! I know I'm getting Debbie Bliss cashmerino to make a baby sweater and hat for the newest upcoming grandbaby. And some buttons. And maybe some needles. And they have suede slippers. And they have pattern books......My head is spinning. Woohoo!

Ten on Tuesday
I'm struggling here for something to write so thought I'd copy Knot much of a Knitter and do a shopping 10 on Tues. Besides that it's not snowing here any more....it's a drippy rain instead, so the pictures that I posted last aren't really appropriate any more!
Ten places I shop. And BTW, I don't really enjoy shopping all that much.
Clothes
1-CJBanks
2-Macys
Groceries
3-Oxton's--local SuperValu store
4-Hugo's store in Grand Forks
Odds'n Ends
5-Target
Pets
6-Petco
7-Pets R Inn pet store in Grand Forks
Yarn
8-Boucle LYS in Fargo
9-Prairie Yarns LYS in Fargo These are approximately a 2 hour drive to get to. And yet I consider them my LYS!
10-Michaels
So there you have it. When I go shopping this is where you'd find me. Just a little extra useless info to clog your brain! :)

Random wanderings
The weather is cloudy, grey, cold. The temperature for tonight is forecast for 31. Yes. Freezing. And, there is a wind chill factor in the forecast off and on for the next few days. This is May? Or maybe it is November. I'm starting to think Mother Nature is going through menopause and doesn't know spring from winter! :)
The new grandbaby will be a girl. WooHoo! So the pink Lullaby afghan is the one that I need to be working on. I think I'm over 1/2 done now. I also am planning on a sweater and a hat so will have to check out Ravelry for patterns and yarn choices. Since the baby is due at the end of September, I'd like to use a superwash wool, but I sure don't want to make 1st DDIL be careful when washing it. She will have 3 kids under 5 years old when the new one comes. Busy, do you think?
Work has started hopping even if the weather isn't conductive to farming. Everyone is getting things lined up so they can just get out there as soon as the fields are ready. Which at this rate may be awhile. The 10 day forecast doesn't break into the 70s even. Uff. Come on Mother Nature if you are in menopause, where are the hot flashes???
Well, I cried at the end of Grey's Anatomy last night. I always feel foolish doing that. It is just a TV show for Pete's sake! I always have been an easy crier though. Anyway, I think it was good enough that it could have been the season ending. I wonder if they can top it next week when it is the end for the year....

36th Wedding Anniversary
So today is our wedding anniversary. Yup, 36 years and yes, I WAS in elementary school when I got married. Ha! DH usually says it feels more like double the amount of years. He's missed so far today and hasn't said it yet. Maybe 72 sounds like just too many!
We were out on Saturday evening for a nice supper in Devils Lake at Felix's. We both had BBQ ribs. Yummy. We were thinking that today could be a zoo at work and wanted to be sure of observing the day even if it was early. So today was busy but not a zoo and we are probably going to go out for supper at our local cafe. It's pretty good food and best of all I won't have to cook it OR clean up after. I like cooking but the cleaning up part is for the birds.
3rd DS remembered our anniversary and one SIL so that isn't too bad. I'm thinking 1st & 2nd DSs will maybe feel a little embarrassed when they realize they forgot. Either that or it will slip their mind completely. Entirely possible.
It started out as a grey damp day but the sun is shining a little now so that is good. 36 years ago it was a wonderful, sunny, warm to almost hot day. Super day for a wedding.

Birdy in the backyard
Sunny Sunday
It is going to be a wonderful day today. It has warmed up and will be in the 60s and Sunny! I've got to figure out something to do outside so I & the cats can go out. There are some flowers that need dividing. I wonder if it is too early to do that. The ground must be pretty cold yet. I'll have to check it out...
Some of the charm of the pink afghan has worn off. I seem to measure it and have gotten no where. I'm afraid it'll turn into a job instead of a joy before I get it finished. Maybe I just won't make it as long as the pattern calls for. It apparently didn't turn out as wide either. I do think though that it is going to stretch with use. And I don't want it to become humongous either!
Well, I've got the usual assortment of housework type things that needs to get done so I suppose I better get on with it...
