W2s and helpful ideas welcome

I started doing our company's W2s and all the other end of the year paperwork yesterday. I have more of it ahead of me today and maybe tomorrow also. AUGH!!!! I hate doing government paperwork. Hate it I tell you. I get rather OCD about the whole business. Checking and rechecking to make sure everything is just so....as if it could change itself while I put it in an envelope. I just have to remember....when I'm done it'll be a full year of not having to think about it again. :)

I started on the second mitten last night. Am almost through making the gusset for the thumb so am moving right along. Of course now that I'm getting both the hat and the mittens done, the weather warms up so much that I don't really need them. Uff.

There is a lady in town, more of an aquaintance than a friend, but I'm thinking of doing a prayer shawl for her. She is facing a very serious medical condition and I think a prayer shawl would give her some comfort. I have been looking at patterns and found one that looks pretty but is fairly simple on the Lionbrand website. It's the Very Easy Ripple Shawl. I don't have yarn on hand and would have to probably order something online unless I could find something suitable at Walmart, Joann's or Michael's. They are my only local options. I need to do this quickly though and researching this on Ravelry, it doesn't sound like a quick knit but more of a boring drag. I'd love suggestions on quick but pretty patterns and yarn ideas wouldn't hurt either. Thanks.

Warmer but windy

Well, the weather warmed considerably. But the wind came up last night making it feel almost as cold as the below zero stuff. Typical ND weather though.

I think our goal for the weekend will be to name poor No Name Kitty. We've just gotta get a name on him so we form a better bond. He's fitting in well although Maddie doesn't like him much when he snuggles to close with her.

I finished one mitten. I like the size. It isn't to big and floppy but if it doesn't "bloom" like everyone says it does when it's washed it'll be sort of rustic looking and feeling. Not that that's a bad thing but I've grown used to store bought mittens that are soft as a baby's bottom!

Here are pictures of the stocking hat finished and the mitten started. I just can't seem to take pictures as fast as I knit!

Kitty pictures

It's cold here. Temp this morning was -26. Tomorrow is supposed to be even colder. Winter is getting old and it's only mid January. I think we are getting soft. We used to have winters like this all the time and thought nothing of it. That's just how it was. The last 2 warm, open winters really spoiled us.

I've finished the stocking hat and will start on the mittens. Maybe when I get them done I'll post a picture of everything. I'm burned out with the camera...tryed taking pictures of the cats yesterday. Most every picture was blurry. I did get these:

Aren't they pretty kitties?? BTW though, we still need a name for the white and red kitty. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Back to your regular programming

I don't have a picture to prove it but I'm shaping the crown on my stocking hat so it should be coming to an end soon. I can't wait...I really want to get back to my Peace Fleece cardigan. Although with all the weight I gained over Christmas it may be a tight fit. Just another reason to stop eating all the leftover candy!!

We missed the stormy weather yesterday but there is more in the forecast for Sunday night and Monday and THEN we get below zero daytime high temperatures for a few days. Won't that be FUN!?!

The pattern doesn't call for a pom pom on top of the hat but I'm considering putting one on it. Maybe not a good look for someone my age??

I was a little quick on complaining about the new No Name kitty. He's getting friendlier and more playful every day. We just can't come up with a name for him yet. I actually ordered a name your cat book online to give us a little help. I hope there is something there that we can agree on...

New Kitty

Over the very stormy weekend, DH and I traveled to Minneapolis and got a new kitty. Poor thing just doesn't have a name yet. We don't like what he came with and we can't agree on a new one. So for now he is either Kitty or No Name. As I said....poor thing.

He's a bit nervous yet and seems to not like me much. He doesn't run away nearly as quickly when DH moves around as he does when I do. So that combined with the cloudy weather (yet again) I'm a bit blue. I'd love to go home and have him sit in my lap and purr but I know THAT won't happen. Of course in the overall scope of things this is minor. But it still is discouraging when your own cat doesn't care for you. Agh!

Ok, somebody slap me now and help me get over it.

Feet Finished

Finally got these suckers finished! Feels like I talked about them more than I actually knit on them....Uff. Anyway they are done and delivered. Will have to ask 3rd DS what he thinks of them. I have a feeling that his kitty will definitely like them. He is a wool lovin' kitty....

Stormed over the weekend and now we have even more snow. It is really starting to stack up along the streets and it's only January. What'll it be like by March if it keeps on like this?? We'll be driving through tunnels! ;)
